Industrial Wastewater

Enwa delivers complete solutions for treating industrial wastewater — using all known and established technologies to meet strict environmental and regulatory requirements. Every industry has its specific requirements for the water it uses. That is why we conduct a precise analysis of the water use for each individual case. Always aiming to achieve minimizing water consumption, reducing emissions, and enabling recovery of water and valuable energy. Based on these findings, we develop the perfect water treatment solution for you.

Comprehensive Treatment for Industrial Wastewater

Our systems are based on various biological, chemical, and physical processes. The systems are designed to meet regulatory requirements as well as the specific needs of different industries to reduce environmental impact and water consumption. In addition to water treatment, the systems can also be designed to recover energy and various nutrients.

Biological Water Treatment

Oxygen and bacteria form the basis of a natural biological process to reduce nitrogen and organic material. There are several variations, but mainly the technique is divided into aerobic or anaerobic.

Physico-Chemical Water Treatment

Physico-chemical water treatment typically includes the processes of precipitation, neutralization, flocculation, sedimentation, and flotation. During treatment, dissolved contaminants are precipitated from the water and then aggregated into larger particles that can either settle or float for subsequent removal.

Although the fundamental principles remain the same, each treatment process is often tailored based on laboratory testing and water quality analysis. Physico-chemical treatment is widely used in industrial applications and frequently serves as the first stage in a treatment system.

Separation and adsorption are among the oldest and most established water treatment technologies. Today, these methods are used both as standalone solutions and as integral components of more advanced treatment processes.

The most common filter media include sand and activated carbon; however, a wide range of specialized media is now available, designed to selectively remove specific contaminants. Physico-chemical treatment systems are characterized by their robust design, high reliability, and dependable operation.

How We Can Help

Enwa supports customers throughout the entire wastewater lifecycle with tailored, high-performance solutions that transform wastewater challenges into resource opportunities.

Site Assessments and Customized Treatment

We start with site assessments, detailed water and load characterizations, and pilot tests to define reliable and cost-effective goals for discharge, reuse, or ZLD. Based on this, we design and deliver integrated treatment systems that combine robust pretreatment (screening, grit removal, oil separation, coagulation/flocculation, flotation), biological processes (activated sludge, SBR, MBBR, membrane bioreactors), and tertiary polishing (filtration, nutrient removal, UV/chlorine disinfection, GAC, AOP, UF/NF/RO, EDI) to meet specific legal requirements and reuse demands.

Turnkey Systems & Process Optimization

Our offerings include modular and customized turn-key plants, automation and online monitoring, energy optimization (efficient aeration, heat recovery, biogas production from anaerobic digestion), sludge management and dewatering, as well as concentrate or brine handling (evaporation, ZLD alternatives). For industrial flows, we provide targeted pretreatment and hybrid physical-chemical solutions to protect downstream units and maximize recovery.

Powerful and Compact – Modular Plant Solutions

We have configured our water and wastewater treatment technologies to fit perfectly into our EnviModules.

Make it easy for yourself. These module plants, which are planned according to your requirements, reduce project complexity for you. In contrast to conventional plant construction, this reduces your planning and project time, as well as your depreciation and installation costs.

Compact & Reliable – Exactly as Much Plant as You Need

Our compact wastewater plants have proved their worth over many years in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications throughout Europe.
