Membrane – RO, NF, UF

Efficient, cost-effective water treatment Membrane processes, including nanofiltration (NF), ultrafiltration (UF) and especially reverse osmosis (RO) are increasingly important for water treatment, desalination for drinking water, recycling and reuse as facilities face growing water scarcity and rising costs.

Designed for Efficiency and Reliability

Removing solids, salts, and organics

Membrane systems remove suspended solids, organics, bacteria and dissolved salts by forcing water through semi‑permeable membranes. RO works by applying pressure greater than the natural osmotic pressure to drive water molecules through a tight membrane while rejecting most dissolved salts, organics and microorganisms, typically achieving 96–99% rejection of many contaminants. Membrane technologies are commonly combined with other steps such as pretreatment filtration, ion exchange or electro‑deionization (EDI).

Reverse Osmosis for High-Purity Water

Reverse osmosis (RO) is widely used across industry for boiler and turbine feed, condensate polishing, cooling‑tower makeup, drinking water production, brackish desalination and for supplying high‑purity feedwater to electrolysers for green hydrogen. RO systems require careful pretreatment and regular attention to feedwater chemistry and operational conditions to maintain performance, minimize fouling and protect membrane life. When paired with ion exchange or EDI, RO provides a robust route to demineralized and ultra‑pure water for demanding processes.

System Design and Smart Integration

Selecting the right membrane train, pretreatment, and integration with downstream polishing or recovery technologies depends on feedwater composition, recovery targets and operational priorities. Expert system design and ongoing monitoring are essential to optimize energy use, maximize recovery, reduce maintenance and ensure reliable, cost‑effective water reuse and discharge control.

How We Can Help

Enwa helps customers implement effective membrane solutions by assessing feedwater and process needs, then designing and supplying tailored membrane trains (UF, NF, RO) with optimized pretreatment, energy‑efficient pumps and recovery systems.

Integration with Complementary Technologies

We integrate membranes with complementary technologies—ion exchange, EDI and membrane bioreactors—to meet purity, recovery and ZLD targets. Our services include installation, start‑up, performance validation, monitoring and preventive maintenance to minimize fouling, extend membrane life and reduce operating costs.

Turnkey Systems and Ongoing Support

For projects needing ultra‑pure water (e.g., electrolysers), boiler/turbine feed, condensate polishing or brackish desalination, Enwa delivers turnkey systems and ongoing technical support to ensure reliable, cost‑effective water reuse and regulatory compliance.
