An Automotive Industry

, Sweden
Water quality is a critical factor in modern automotive manufacturing, where stable processes and reliable utilities are essential for efficiency and product quality. In this project, Enwa delivered a water treatment solution combining softening and reverse osmosis (RO) to secure consistent water quality, operational safety, and long-term reliability for the customer’s production process.
By introducing a buffer reservoir as part of the system design, Enwa ensured stable operation and greater flexibility in daily production.

Reliable Water Treatment for the Automotive Industry

In the automotive industry, water quality plays a critical role in production reliability, product quality, and long-term equipment performance. Processes such as surface treatment, cleaning, and cooling depend on stable and consistent water conditions. Even small variations in water quality can lead to downtime, increased maintenance, and higher operating costs. As a result, robust and well-designed water treatment systems are essential for modern automotive manufacturing.

The Customer Case

A Swedish automotive manufacturer approached Enwa with a request for a complete solution for treating both liquid and process-related water streams. The goal was to secure a continuous supply of softened water and high-quality RO water to support production, while ensuring operational stability and compliance with internal standards.

The project required a solution that could handle varying demand, operate reliably over time, and integrate smoothly into the existing production environment.

Our Delivery

Challenges
– Balancing Capacity and Operational Safety

The original specification proposed two parallel RO units feeding directly into the pipe system. Based on Enwa’s experience, this approach risked unstable operation during varying demand. Securing a reliable and consistent water supply was therefore a key challenge.

Enwa’s Solution
– A Stable and Flexible System Design

Enwa delivered a complete solution with duplex softening, two parallel RO units, and a buffer reservoir with distribution pump. The reservoir ensures stable operation and smooth handling of fluctuating demand.

An additional control cabinet allows automatic control of one or two RO units depending on water consumption, improving efficiency and protecting the system.

Added Value
– Smart Water Storage

As an additional purchase the delivery also included factory-built and site-built water storage tanks in polypropylene, all structurally calculated and designed to meet applicable standards. The storage solution supports the operational security and supports peak demand of an installation which has not been delivered by Enwa. We supported another supplier with our knowledge and capability to deliver.

A Reliable Partner for Industrial Water Treatment

The final solution provides stable, long-term operation and reduced operational risk, supporting efficient production.
