Forshaga Water Treatment Plant
Capacity Expansion – Water Quality Challenges
Forshaga Water Treatment Plant provides drinking water for up to 10,000 people every day.
The plant needed a major renovation to double its capacity from approximately 2,000 m³/day to at least 4,000 m³/day, while also addressing overdue maintenance.
As drinking water is classified as a food product, the renovation includes a review of safety and security measures across the entire water supply. A backup water pipeline from Klarälven is being prepared, allowing the plant to draw raw water from both Lake Visten and Klarälven, further enhancing reliability for the Forshaga community.

Expanding Drinking Water Capacity in Forshaga
When Byggdialog AB was commissioned to expand the drinking water filtration plant in Forshaga, maintaining uninterrupted water supply was a top priority. The challenge was to design and commission a new system while keeping the existing plant fully operational — a task requiring precise coordination and technical expertise.
A Seamless Integration by Enwa
Enwa took full responsibility for both design and execution, providing a complete one-stop solution. The new extension added an ultrafiltration system to the existing nanofiltration (NF) plant, increasing the total treatment capacity to 300 m³/h.
The setup included drum filters, ultrafiltration modules, UV disinfection units, chemical dosing, and a CIP (clean-in-place) system — all designed to work seamlessly with the existing installation.
Reliable Water Supply Without Interruption
Thanks to close collaboration between Enwa and Byggdialog, the new ultrafiltration plant was successfully commissioned without disrupting operations. The result is a robust and future-ready filtration system that ensures consistently high water quality for the Forshaga community.
