About Greverud Nursing Home
Years of struggles with Legionella
Greverud Nursing Home and assisted living facility, opened in 2004, offers 130 places across different levels of care. For years, the municipality of Nordre Follo had struggled with recurring Legionella findings in the building’s water system. Despite various measures, the problem persisted, creating a serious health risk for vulnerable residents.
Our Delivery
Persistent Legionella Challenges
Repeated Legionella outbreaks at Greverud Nursing Home required a long-term, reliable solution that could eliminate bacteria and biofilm throughout the system.
Copper–Silver Ionization as the Answer
In June 2024, Bravida installed two Enwa Bifipro II units with pre-filters, one for each water inlet. Using controlled dosing of silver and copper ions, the system continuously disinfects the water, breaking down biofilm and killing Legionella directly in the pipe network. The process is fully automated and remotely monitored via GSM for optimal operation.
Clear Results in Just Two Months
Just two months after installation, water samples tested negative for Legionella. Ion levels were within safe limits set by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, confirming both efficiency and safety. With continuous monitoring and minimal need for operator intervention, the nursing home now has a robust, low-maintenance Legionella protection in line with national health guidelines.
“Greverud Nursing Home is a perfect example of a building that needs this type of protection. With Bifipro units and regular testing, we have achieved a complete safeguard against Legionella,” says Torkjel Solheim, Biomedical Engineer at Enwa.
