About Plasman AB
Plasman AB is a leading manufacturer of plastic components in Simrishamn with around 350 employees, making it the municipality’s second-largest employer. The company produces plastic parts for the automotive industry and collaborates with major players such as Volvo and BMW. They also supply components for Nibe’s heat pumps and has Scania as a key customer. The production process requires high precision and reliable operation – especially in the cooling systems, where water quality is crucial.

Critical Cooling Challenges
For Plasman, precise cooling water is essential in the molding process, where temperatures must stay within narrow limits. Their 30 m³ closed system suffered from rust flakes, particles, and low pH, which clogged filters, strainers, and valves. Chemical treatments worsened the situation, damaging hoses, seals, and O-rings, leading to frequent downtime, emergency call-outs, and high costs.
EnwaMatic® – A Sustainable Solution
Enwa installed an EnwaMatic system, a chemical-free solution that continuously filters particles and automatically balances pH. This significantly extends the life of hoses, seals, and O-rings, while drastically reducing maintenance. Tasks that once required cleaning filters multiple times per day now take minimal effort, saving both time and resources.
Improved Control and Reliability
To further enhance operational safety, the system was integrated with Modbus communication, allowing real-time monitoring and automatic alarms if pumps stop or backwashing fails. This ensures the cooling system remains stable, avoiding unplanned production stoppages that could cost up to SEK 80,000 per minute.
Results and Benefits
After just over a year, Plasman enjoys stable water quality, higher production reliability, and sharply reduced maintenance costs. The investment quickly paid off, both by preventing costly downtime and by improving overall production efficiency.
