Comfort Hotel Bergen Airport
A large hotel – High demands on water quality
When Comfort Hotel Bergen Airport opened in 2017, it became Norway’s largest Comfort Hotel with 304 rooms and over 600 beds. With such a large number of guests, maintaining excellent water quality was critical—not only for the energy efficiency of the hotel’s heating and cooling systems, but also for preventing Legionella in the domestic water supply. Traditional chemical-based methods were considered, but the hotel wanted an environmentally friendly and low-maintenance solution in line with its BREEAM “Very Good” certification.
Our Delivery – EnwaMatic®
Chemical-free protection from day one
From the very start, EnwaMatic water treatment units were installed in the heating and cooling systems. These chemical-free filters continuously remove particles and sludge, regulate pH, alkalinity, and hardness, and provide a natural bacteria barrier—ensuring stable and energy-efficient operation.
For Legionella protection, an Enwa h2oTitanium AOP system was installed on the main water inlet. Using advanced oxidation with hydroxyl radicals combined with UV treatment, it eliminates 99.99% of harmful microorganisms without producing or adding chemicals.
Long-term reliability and guest safety
Thanks to Enwa’s systems, the hotel established excellent water quality from day one. “It’s a major advantage that the EnwaMatic water treatment was in place from the beginning—this is one of the main reasons why we’ve had little to no issues with water quality in either the heating, cooling, or domestic water systems,” says Roy Fordelsen from BOB Eiendomstjenester, responsible for technical operations at the hotel.
The combination of EnwaMatic and h2oTitanium AOP ensures long-term protection of guests, reduced operating costs, and a fully chemical-free, sustainable solution.
